Our Aim

At Jack and Jill’s, we aim to provide a happy and secure environment where children are given the opportunity to build on their development and independence by learning through play. We offer high quality professional childcare in order for children to learn at their own pace in a relaxed and stimulating atmosphere, where their care and educational needs are catered for.

Admissions and Parental Partnership

Full and part time places are offered to children throughout the year. Admission to the nursery is by completion of our application form and “All about me” form together with a payment of a deposit to secure your child’s place. We have a finger print recognition access system which allows designated parents/carers to enter the nursery at any time during the nursery day.

At Jack and Jill’s Day Nursery we recognise that parents/carers are the first and most important educators in their children’s lives. In order for children to reach their full potential we aim for parents/carers to work closely with the staff throughout their child’s time at nursery. We keep parents/carers regularly involved and up to date with nursery life by sending regular newsletters, holding twice yearly information evenings and having daily informal chats with parents/carers.

Safeguarding and Development

Jack and Jill’s recognises that it has a duty to safeguard & protect children from abuse as defined in the Children’s Act 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015 and What To Do If You Are Worried A Child Is Being Abused 2015 (Department of Education) . We provide a safe environment for children to learn & play in. Staff help children to establish & sustain relationships with their families, peers & other adults. If any issues arise staff will be provided with the relevant information on a need to know basis about individual children to keep them vigilant to any specific needs. Full details are in our Safeguarding Policy on the parents/carers hand book situated in the entrance hall. The nursery is part of a project called Operation Encompass which is run jointly between schools/ childcare providers and West Midlands Police. Operation Encompass reports to schools and childcare providers, prior to the start of a next nursery day, if when a child or young person has been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident. Operation Encompass will ensure that the Designated Safeguarding lead, known as a Key Adult, is aware and trained to liaise with the local authority to use the information that has been shared in confidence. The Designated Safeguarding lead will be able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident.

All children’s development and progress is recorded on a regular basis throughout their nursery years. Child development forms are completed and shared with parents/carers on a regular basis and parents/carers are asked to help complete the records to show a full picture of the child’s development both at nursery and at home. Each child has an individual portfolio which includes pieces of work, paintings, photograph’s etc. These are given to parents/carers at the six monthly information evenings together with their individual progress reports.
